 Capitol University shares love in Barangay   Pontabon Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City

Capitol University demonstrates spirit of generosity through an annual gift giving in Pontabon Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City. The Community Extension Officer, headed by Grace Quiblat, organized the said event. Together with other university staffs and students, they've distributed a total amount of  four hundred six (406) boxes to the children of Barangay Pontabon.  

The Community Extension Officer requires every students in the College of Education and the College of Nursing to provide one gift, by pair, with school supplies inside. Such as Grade 1 paper and notebook, art paper, ruler, pencil, sharpener and eraser. The said organization also requires selected colleagues to provide toys, chocolates and a Christmas letter.

"We encouraged students to show their spirit of generosity by sharing a mere amount of their allowance. Kana ilang i-Chingkeetea maypa ila nalang nang ipalit ug school supplies sa mga bata sa Barangay Pontabon dadto sa Bonbon. That's what Christmas is all about, we should give, right?", said Grace Quiblat, head of The Community Extension Officer. When Grace Quiblat was asked another question about the essence of giving and sharing to other people, she smiled and said "We give because we know what it feels like to have nothing."

In addition, CESBO, a school organization for the College of Education, said that it is mandatory for Education students, in any level, to provide gifts for the children in Barangay Pontabon Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City. "This said gift giving activity is really mandatory for the Education students. If one pair of student successfully donated a complete set of school supplies, of course, a total points of one hundred will be deducted to their educ card. What you give is what you get, patas tanan", said Nelson Hinayun Jr., CESBO President.

The "Share the Love" activity started in the morning on December 16, 2017, wherein hundreds of children ,together with their mother or father, gathered in a small court to received their small yet special presents. The activity were participated mostly with the College of Education students. Some teaching staffs were also present during the activity. Professors from different colleagues, namely: College of Education and College of Arts and Sciences. 

During the activity, selected students from Bachelor of Elementary Education and CESBO officers showcased their talent through dancing under the heat of the sun. Children who were patiently waiting for their gifts danced together as the music beats the entire community. "It's not just about giving gifts it's also about entertaining and making each children happy though the heat of the sun really strikes to the depth of our bones.", said Nelson Hinayun Jr., CESBO President. Gifts were distributed by Grace Quiblat (head of The Community Extension Officer), Vladimir Molawan ( Vice President External of CESBO), Doctor Eva Alcantara ( Professor of College of Arts and Sciences) and Jannet Paster (Professor of College of Arts and Sciences).

The annual gift giving of Capitol University became a tradition as the university wants to extend blessings outside the school campus. "Every year, during December, Capitol University is just trying to make every children smile and giving them a message that someone really cares for them. Though their life is hard, we are here to help as long as we can and as long as we could. And to provide children not maybe the best Christmas, but rather a special Christmas for them.", said Grace Quiblat, Head of The Community Extension Officer.
